A map exhibiting the Economical Geology of the State of New York, 1836 June 30.

Eaton transmits a copy of his 1832 geological survey map of the state to Governor William L. Marcy. The map is a part of the Institute's geological text book which was sent to Marcy earlier. The map is in color and details the various types of rock which make up the state. The map, which measures 12" x 16" also includes northern Pennsylvania.

Amos Beebe Eaton (1806-1877) graduated from the US Military Academy in 1826, took part in the Seminole War in Florida and was with General Taylor's army of occupation in the Mexican War. He was in Benicia and San Francisco, CA, between 1853-55. During the Civil War he was purchasing commissary in New York City (1861-64) and commisary-general of subsistence in Washington, D.C.
